FAQ
Questions, answered directly
If something you need isn't here, ask us. We would rather answer a hard question before you book than have you find out afterwards.
Getting started
What the first session is, and when to have it.
Is the first session free?
Not automatically, and we would rather say so than advertise a free session and then find reasons why yours does not qualify.
Send us your details and your rank. Depending on your situation we may offer a free counselling session — we decide case by case so it actually reaches the students who need it most, rather than becoming a sales device.
Either way you will get an honest reply about whether we can help and what it would cost.
My rank is low. Is there any point talking to you?
This is the most common message we get, and it is usually wrong.
Students consistently underestimate what their rank reaches, because they compare against the handful of institutes everyone talks about rather than the full list of government colleges, home-state quotas, category seats and later rounds. Every year we work with students who had already decided a government seat was impossible, and who are now studying at one.
We will also tell you honestly when a rank genuinely does not reach what you are hoping for — but that is a conversation worth having with the actual data in front of you.
How do I book a session?
Use the booking page to pick a time that suits you, or send us an enquiry through the contact form and we will get back to you within one working day.
If you would rather just talk to a person first, message us on WhatsApp. That is often the fastest route.
Which exams and admissions do you cover?
We work on admission to government institutes, specifically:
- JEE Main and Advanced — JoSAA and CSAB choice filling, state counselling, and B.Tech admission to NITs, IIITs, GFTIs and state government colleges.
- GATE — M.Tech admission through COAP and CCMT at IITs, NITs and centrally funded institutes, plus PSU recruitment.
- PhD and research admission, including funding and fellowship routes.
We also run one-to-one career counselling for the decisions around those — GATE versus placements, higher study versus industry, and which routes a branch actually opens.
If your situation does not obviously fit, ask us anyway.
When should I start planning for higher study?
For GATE and M.Tech, the second half of your third year of B.Tech is the natural point — early enough to build a real preparation sequence rather than compress one.
For PhD applications, begin about a year before you intend to start, because supervisor identification and proposal development are slow and cannot be usefully rushed.
How it works
Sessions, scheduling and what a programme actually involves.
Are sessions online or in person?
Both. Most sessions run online over video, which lets us work with students anywhere in India and makes scheduling considerably easier around school and college timetables.
In-person sessions are available in Greater Noida by prior arrangement. For most families the online session is not a compromise — it is simply more practical.
Can parents join the session?
Yes, and for school-level students we prefer it.
Parents are usually funding the decision and will live with its consequences, so hearing the reasoning directly beats hearing it relayed. Where a student would rather speak privately first, we can do that too and then bring parents into a follow-up conversation.
What do I actually receive?
For JEE and GATE counselling: a ranked choice list built from several years of closing-rank data, a written rationale for every choice on it, and round-by-round support through the counselling cycle — including the float, slide and freeze decisions that have deadlines and no appeal.
For career counselling: a focused one-to-one session and a written summary you keep.
Everything written goes to you over email and WhatsApp, so nothing depends on what you remembered from a call.
Pricing
What things cost and what is included.
What do the services cost?
Three services, priced separately and paid once:
- JEE Counselling — ₹9,999. Full admission season, JoSAA and CSAB.
- GATE Counselling — ₹2,999. Full counselling cycle for M.Tech, PhD and PSU routes.
- Career Counselling — ₹499. One focused session on one decision.
Nothing renews, and nothing is added halfway through. The full breakdown is on the pricing page.
Why is career counselling only ₹499?
Because it is one session about one decision, not a full admission cycle.
JEE and GATE counselling run across weeks of rounds, deadlines and choice lists, and the work is proportionate. A career session is a single focused conversation with a written summary. Charging admission-counselling prices for it would be dishonest, and charging nothing would fill the calendar with people who are not actually deciding anything.
Independence & incentives
Who pays us, and why that is the question that matters most.
Do you take commissions from colleges?
No. We receive no referral fee, commission, or consideration of any kind from any college, coaching institute or lender.
Our entire income is the fees paid by families. This matters because much of the admission consulting industry in India works the other way, which is precisely why a consultant can be so enthusiastic about one particular private college. Ask any consultant this question directly, and ask for the answer in writing.
Will you recommend colleges you have a deal with?
There are no such colleges. We have no arrangement with any institution, so every shortlist we give you is built only from closing-rank data, published placement records and total cost.
We will also tell you when a college on your list is a poor choice, including when it is the one your family has already settled on.
Are your mentors actually working professionals?
Yes. Our mentors are people currently working in engineering, research and industry roles rather than full-time counsellors, which is the point — advice about GATE, research or placements ages quickly, and the people giving it should be close enough to the subject to notice when it changes.
Individual credentials for each mentor are listed on the about page.
